The history of Julie's Embroidery
Julie's Embroidery opened it's doors on 2nd January 1997 with a staff of 2, the owner, Julienne Morgan, and Trevor Stuart-Dent.
It was a duanting time initially, having started from scratch with no customers. Julienne had been in the embroidery business for 10 years prior to starting her own business, so knew the embroidery business inside out.
By word of mouth and knocking on business doors from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday for the first 5 months, the work started coming in.
Julie's then decided that they would get into the supply of garments as well as embroidery.
In their typical "never say no to any job" attitude, they started selling garments from the Stencil catalog. This led to Julienne doing research on importers and gradually the number of importers that they used increased. Some of the initial importers that Julie's used were Johnny Bobbin, Fashion Biz, Legend, Dynamic Headwear, Headwear Stockists but to name a few.
These days, Julie'e Embroidery can supply a vast range of clothing, from singlets to business suits. In fact there are more than 4,500 garments that Julie's can supply, and that is not taking into account the various colours within styles!.
After renting (and out growing) 2 factories in our first 5 years, Julie bought the factory where we operate from now. It has a well stocked showroom, and all the catalogs that you can look at to see the full range available and most importantly plenty of car parking space on site!
All the embroidery is done in house so that we can keep a watch on the quality, which is of prime importance to us.
Julie's Embroidery has diversified in that we now offer excellent screen printing service. From single colour to 4 colour process printing. Julie's also offers a vinyl number and name service for clubs and individuals that want to personalize their playing tops. Another service that Julie's now offer is vinyl printing. When a logo is too detailed for embroidery this is a great alternative option. This is particularly suited to caps, where the embroidery dimensions are restricted.
From the outset, Julie's has been involved in the local community. From being on the very first committee for Bear Cottage, a hospice for terminally ill children and their families, to sponsoring local junior and senior Surf, Rugby Union, Tennis, League, Football, Cricket, Gymnastics, Fishing, Baseball, Netball, golf clubs, to being involved in supporting The Spactic Centre through supporting the Col Crawford Golf day each year since we started.
